Vickie Cammack Named In Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women: Globe and Mail

Co-founder of PLAN and PLAN Institute Executive Director Vickie Cammack was honoured today as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women at a ceremony in Toronto.  The award, presented by the Women's Executive Network (WXN), recognizes remarkable Canadian women in eight different categories of excellence. In addition to the award, Vickie was among a select group of recipients to be profiled in the Globe and Mail.

Distinguished in the Champion category. Vickie is being honoured for her inspiration and demonstrable solutions related to social networks, social innovation, citizenship and disability. Vickie describes her work as ‘creating a revolution of belonging. She is a co-founder of Planned Lifetime Advocacy Network, a successful author and inspirational speaker. Her focussed and strategic approach to developing social networks is being used around the world. A recognised social entrepreneur Vickie’s most recent initiative, to extend the impact of her work, is the creation of Tyze, a groundbreaking online personal network service.

"People who are isolated experience loneliness and powerlessness. It is my hope this award will create pathways to create a Canada where everyone belongs."

PLAN Institute for Caring Citizenship works to reduce the isolation and loneliness of people with disabilities and ensure that the gifts and contributions of all members of a community are welcomed. PLAN Institute provides training, consultation, research, publications and strategic support in areas including caring citizenship, social innovation and social entrepreneurship.

Vickie is co-author of Safe and Secure - Six Steps to Creating a Personal Future Plan for People with Disabilities. As a past college instructor at Douglas College in New Westminster BC, she designed a curriculum process for the preparation of caregivers that is used in colleges and universities throughout British Columbia and is the founding Director of the Family Support Institute of British Columbia.

Governor General's Meritorious Service Medal to recognize a deed or activity performed in a highly
professional manner or according to a very high standard that brings benefit or  honour to Canada Awarded in April 2005

The Vickie Cammack Award is presented each year to an outstanding student from Douglas College
