BC Caregivers Retreat

A chance for family caregivers to relax and recharge.

About the Retreat

Being the primary support for a loved one with a disability can be an all-consuming and sometimes overwhelming experience. Often, we feel isolated, exhausted, and disconnected from ourselves outside of our caregiving roles. This special annual weekend retreat was developed by and for family caregivers to allow for the chance to relax, rejuvenate and connect with other caregivers in a beautiful setting.

The retreat is open to anyone who is a primary caregiver for someone with disability, whether a child, parent, sibling or partner.

2024 Caregivers Retreat

The next Plan Institute BC Caregivers Retreat will take place on the weekend of October 4-6, 2024 at Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort, Parksville, Vancouver Island.

The format of this year’s retreat will be blended, with some facilitated group activities and some personal time. While the cost of this year’s retreat will be generously subsidized, we will be asking for a small contribution from each attendee. Some full bursaries will also be available. More information about this year’s retreat will be available in the coming weeks.

We will be determining attendees for this year’s retreat through a randomized draw later in the summer. To be notified when the expression of interest form for the draw is opened, please add your name and contact information to our notification list here.

If you have any questions please reach out to Rachael Plant, Program Manager at rplant@planinstitute.ca.

We are grateful for generous support from the Syd Vernon Foundation, the Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation, and posAbilities, which helps us to make this weekend retreat as financially accessible as possible.
