Behind successful change-makers are people:
- who bubble with enthusiasm for the idea you want to explore
- who say, “Why not?” and offer another dozen reasons why you should try it
- who see the majesty in what you are proposing
- who can’t imagine anyone finer than you to deal with the “slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” that you will face and
- who cheer you through all your twists and turns.
Vickie describes these folks as percolators, which is a very fine addition to the three change-making roles I describe in my book Impact. (disruptor, bridge builder and receptor)
Percolators come from every walk of life. I’ve found them, or they’ve found me, within foundations, corporations and government; among Board members, colleagues and even adversaries; as well as neighbours, friends and family members and of course in a loving partner.
You won’t get the full benefit from the golden light of percolators if you pay too much attention to the naysayers or cynics in your midst. Or, if you are distracted by the search for just the right technique or technology.
Percolators have a breathtaking supply of abundance which they are already sharing with you. Chances are there are people like that in your life. All you have to do is let down your guard.
You can count on them to breathe life into your efforts. Their vested interest is, you!

It’s easier to desire and pursue the attention of tens of millions of total strangers, than it is to accept the love and loyalty of the people closest to us. (William Gibson)
